Veronica Pejril teaches digital music production techniques at DePauw University. In 2019, she was elected to Greencastle’s City Council, making history as Indiana’s first openly trans elected official. As a 2020 delegate, Pejril led the Pledge of Allegiance for the second evening of the Democratic National Convention. She is currently a candidate for her Indiana State Senate seat. While a graduate student at Princeton, Pejril was an assistant master for First (formerly Wilson) College, and the pianist for the Princeton University Jazz Ensemble. Her research in developing computer music tools led to her founding a small business, Black Squirrel Software, to distribute her software to musicians and composers. Pejril has been a member of Queer Princeton Alumni’s board of trustees since 2021. In addition to her service to QPA, she serves on the executive board for Indiana Youth Group, the oldest continually-operating LGBTQ+ youth center in the nation. An outspoken advocate for the rights of queer and gender-diverse youth, Pejril’s community activism has been featured by regional media. She is a parent of twin sons who will turn 30 later this year and is an avid gardener and mom to three cats.
