Marisa Demeo was appointed associate judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia by President Obama and has spent 14 years in that position. She served for three years as a magistrate judge, and previously served as an assistant United States attorney in Washington, D.C., headed the national policy office of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and served as an honors trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Demeo taught as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University School of Law and Howard University School of Law. She is co-founder and past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C. Judicial Council, and co-founder and first president of the Department of Justice Pride group. She is a current Princeton alumni trustee.
