Identity: Black, female, Haitian born, American-bred, scholar, athlete, spiritual/Protestant, lesbian, fierce mother, anxious. Deborah Saint-Phard writes: “I live at a remarkable intersection about which I am no longer uncomfortable speaking. The human condition is challenging if we are being honest. Having my children call me out led to my taking a deep dive into what it means to be vulnerable instead of always trying to be perfect. The latter is what has led to my becoming more human and thus… relatable.” Saint-Phard is writing a memoir and is seeking a publisher through her literary agent.
