Aly Kassam-Remtulla is a globally-minded leader with a profound commitment to education, philanthropy and environmental and social justice. He has over 20 years of experience in strategy, leadership, governance and operations in complex organizations. As Princeton University’s vice provost for international affairs, he leads a high-performing team of 300 professionals working across three continents to advance international engagement, support and advocate for international students and scholars, and manage the University’s global footprint. His portfolio includes oversight of a 48,000-acre research campus in Kenya, one of the leading ecological institutes on the African continent. Kassam-Remtulla has been an active teacher, advisor and mentor to undergraduate and graduate students at Princeton. Previously, he worked at the MacArthur Foundation, for an investment bank, on two political campaigns and as a consultant to non-profit organizations and a startup company. He chairs the board of the United World College-USA and serves as a trustee of Allegheny College, Princeton in Africa and Princeton in Beijing. Born in Kenya and raised in Canada, Kassam-Remtulla is a published poet and retired food blogger. His commentary has appeared in WIRED Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Al Jazeera and the Philadelphia Inquirer. In 2022, he was inducted into Stanford University’s Multicultural Alumni Hall of Fame. He lives in Princeton with his husband and 10-year-old twins.
