Ron McCoy has served as the University architect at Princeton University since 2008. He provides overall guidance for the planning, architecture and landscape of the Princeton campus. In this role, McCoy is responsible for collaborating with some of the leading architects of our generation who have been given the responsibility to advance the values and mission of the institution while respecting and enhancing the unique qualities of the campus.
McCoy was part of the facilities team that delivered a generation of new projects that were envisioned in the 2016 campus plan. He led the effort to create the 2026 Campus Plan, which provides a comprehensive planning framework for the largest period of growth in the Princeton’s 278 year history. Under his leadership, the University has grown by nearly 50%, adding approximately 5 million square feet of new space while rehabilitating more than 60 heritage campus buildings.
Prior to joining Princeton, McCoy served as university architect at Arizona State University (ASU). He is professor emeritus at ASU, having served as professor and director of the School of Architecture.
McCoy is a member of the AIA College of Fellows and recipient of the AIA Arizona Architects Medal, which recognizes outstanding professional achievements and social responsibility. He received a master of architecture degree from Princeton University. When his schedule allows, he teaches a freshman seminar entitled, “Architecture and the American College Campus.”
