Courageous, Compassionate, Contemplative

Rabbi Cindy Enger compassionately inspires her students to journey courageously and deeply into relationship with text, community and the truth of their experience. An ordained rabbi, she has worked with individuals, congregations and organizations across North America. She served as rabbi and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Israel in Bellingham, Washington, and Congregation Or Chadash in Chicago. Enger directed the Jewish Program at FaithTrust Institute, a multifaith organization working nationally with clergy and congregations to end sexual and domestic violence. She also provided innovative leadership as the director of rabbinic placement/career services for the Central Conference of American Rabbis (the rabbinical organization for the Reform Movement in Judaism), introducing deep spirituality to the rabbinic placement process and implementing policies and practices to advance equity in the rabbinic search and hiring process. Prior to entering the rabbinate, Enger worked as an attorney in Chicago, first at McDermott, Will & Emery and later as an assistant public guardian advocating on behalf of abused and neglected children and disabled adults. Her lifelong commitment to learning has included writing workshops, Jewish mindfulness meditation teacher training and clinical pastoral education. She resides in Westchester County, New York.
